We’re getting fed up of waiting for the sunshine. Not only are we itching to lounge around on the lawn supping cider and eating pork pies, but we’re also keen for our cucumbers to experience a bit of warm sun on their backs.
And now impatience has got the better of us – we’ve dragged the young plants from their protective cold frame and given their roots the cold, wet shock of English mud.
But to help them adjust to the British summer we’ve presented them each with their own, individual, tailor made cloche, carefully hewn from plastic pop bottles. This should give them a bit of extra warmth and protection, and it might even act as a barrier against those rain loving slugs. Now, where’s my pork pie…
