Nocturnal bottling sessions in our electricity bereft brewing shed have always been problematic, but thanks to the wonders of rechargeable LED, our shed-based cider adventures have just gone supernova.
We’ve installed a LUMi – a dangly ceiling mounted light – which is powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery housed in its belly.
It can be charged either by connecting it to a 5v USB port, or hooking it up to a solar charger via the 4m cable, and will pump out upwards of 10 hours light on a full charge.
Hang one from your shed roof and it’ll float above your work area like a Moon jellyfish*, illuminating your workspace with a decent 40 lumens across a 3m x3m area. It’s lightweight too, with rounded contours softening the blow should you bonk your bonce during tricky shed maneuvers.
Having a decent shed light also means that the ill-advised practice of clasping a mini-maglite between our teeth to illuminate proceedings can now stop.
Our dentists will surely approve.
