It’s been ready to drink for a couple of weeks now, but I wanted it to mature nicely in the barrel before reviewing. In no way had I completely forgotten about it.
Name: Hambleton Bard Bitter
Appearance: Cloudy, dark brown booze colour. No head.
Taste: Fruity with a lasting bitter aftertaste, unmistakable homebrew flavour, almost nutty. (As in the hard things found on trees, not like the ex-members of Madness)
Conclusion: As with many home brewed booze beverages, the more you drink, the nicer it tastes. There must be a tipping point but I’m not prepared to find it on a Tuesday night. Sadly, it posesses that unwelcome homebrew attribute of giving you a headache after a couple of pints. A premature hangover, if you will.
All in all, a very average pint. Our Nettle Beer is vastly superior.
Score: 5/10
