Everyone likes to think that their sloe gin is the best, right? We certainly think our easy recipe and the precise way we hand prick every sloe leads to the finest sloe gin anyone has any right to expect. Now, thanks to the gin addicts of The Feathers Hotel in Woodstock, any UK sloe gin maker gets their chance to pit their home produce against some of the finest brands in the world.
Famous for having the world largest number of gins (181 at the last count) The Feathers Hotel is running a Sloe Gin Challenge to find the best sloe gin in the UK. Pete Saunders, the hotel’s General Manager, explains: “It will come as no surprise that we love all gins, but we want to promote sloe gin as we feel it can be forgotten or completely unknown. This year seems to be a bumper crop of sloe berries and it’s so easy and fun to make your own sloe gin. Have a laugh making it, have a great drink ready for Christmas and why not see if your recipe is the best and win a night away at The Feathers to try even more gins!”
The competition runs on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November 2013 and will be judged by an finely tuned panel of Michelin starred chefs, sommeliers and industry experts. After a blind tasting on day one you’ll be able to buy tickets for the following day’s events where guests can sample the winning entries.
